The abomination of desolation in the Book of Daniel and the Gospels

In every generation there are dooms day preachers and self-proclaimed apocalyptic visionaries.

One of the most mysterious prophecies in Scripture concerns the so-called "Abomination of Desolation" spoken of in the Book of Daniel and the Gospels of Matthew and Mark.

There are many who claim to know or have known what or who this prophesy is referring to.  But the fact remains that as Jesus said, "no man knows the day or hour..."  So it seems that to speculate on this mysterious aspect of end times prophecy is somewhat futile if not entirely disingenuous.

Besides, as God's word says, "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day or the hour in which the Son of Man is coming."  Matthew 25:13
Our job in these aspects is to watch and be aware of the times in which we live, not to speculate.
What do you think?

  1. Yes, we need to be on watch because we do not know the time or the hour. What we should really be focused on is our living and on God.
